PCC Meeting - January 2010

Highlights from the PCC meeting held on 19th January 2010

Matters arising not already on the agenda

  1. Ribbesford car-park and drive
Now resurfaced, at cost to us of £1k for car park and £650 for drive. Provision of salt bin was queried but thought unlikely that council would provide this on private land.
  2. Advent and Christmas
Feedback invited. Positive response: all went well!
  3. Sabbatical
Reconfirmed: Keith's sabbatical will run from April 19th until September 1st.

St Anne's Building

(i) Quinquennial work
Pigeon deterrence on tower: Martin is exploring how to extend works to critical areas. Remedial work inside will follow when building is waterproof. Not possible to guarantee that work will coincide with present road closure. Thanks extended to property group for continuing work.

(ii) Feedback from re-ordering group
Group have met twice, once with Andrew Mottram.

Priorities were identified:
1. Repairs to make building weatherproof (now in hand)
2. A sustainable maintenance plan for future
3. A Statement of significance needs to be produced.

PCC would need to demonstrate that they are effective well-informed managers and produce strong arguments if re-ordering is to succeed.

Any other business

  1. Biodiversity

The Good Friday walk: felt to be an important, dignified way of making our presence felt in co-operation with other churches
