Lent, Holy Week & Easter
Myers Briggs workshops: again comments showed that these were well received.
Reason for shortening Good Friday walk was clarified: general feeling was that reversion to longer walk round the churches in town would be welcomed.
St Leonard's Path and Car park
Council footpath officer had been in touch with Keith: would like to see improvements in drive and car park and would contact interested parties, hoping for some financial contributions.
Eco Congregations
This is an award given to churches who have made progress in their environmental ministry.
PCC has previously committed us to seeking this award.
Module 1 (Church Check-Up)
had been circulated at Annual Meeting. Many areas were identified where progress is being made: e.g. St Anne's light bulbs being swapped where possible, Michael is collating data for gas and electricity usage, greener management plan for St Leonard's churchyard is being developed, etc. Following a collective work through the check-up and extensive discussion, the following were identified as priority areas that we commit to develop (the resources noted are available from
www.ew.ecocongregation.org under "Free Resources" or ask Brian):
Church Land: (Module 9 "Planting and Conserving Eden": Practical ideas and advice to care for Church grounds and land)
Church Buildings: (Module 7 "Greening the cornerstone": Guidelines on caring for Church premises)
Personal Lifestyles: (Module 10 "Green choices": Information and suggestions to green personal lifestyles)
PCC members were invited to identify how they could contribute to developments in any of these areas: please contact Brian Smith or Keith.
Children & Youth Included - Church Award scheme
The Diocese has launched an award scheme for parish work with children. It was agreed that we support this through work with Sunday Gang & Leaders.
Budget for 2009
Please see Keith if you are interested in reviewing our budget over the summer.
Composition of PCC
Notes had been circulated with the Agenda following a question raised at the Annual Meeting.
Keith recommended that we have an even number of people elected each year and suggested that the PCC consider each year having:
4 people representing St Leonard's, (3PCC+1Churchwarden)
8 representing St Anne's (6PCC+2Churchwardens)
2 representing St Andrew's (1PCC+1Churchwarden).
There was extensive discussion with strong feeling that all members of the PCC are representing the Parish and not merely an individual church. It is important however to ensure breadth of expertise and experience from the churches and the above recommendation was accepted as providing a useful rule of thumb to guide numbers.
Any other business
Chaplain for Agricultural and Rural Life had requested information about farmers in the parish. No-one felt able to provide this information.
Sunday Parking
WFDC has queried Sunday parking concession. Apparently person who had authorised this had left: still under discussion.
